What are Phone Numbers?

Phone numbers allow your Connect Rocket account to send and receive voice calls and text messages. They are optional — an account can have none, one, or several phone numbers depending on your organization's needs. Phone numbers can be added to an account at any time.

Phone numbers fall into two categories:

Configurable — these numbers can be assigned a phone line type and managed by administrators. Connect Rocket offers five phone line types to handle inbound and outbound communications, each designed for different operational use cases. See [Understanding Phone Line Types].

Non-Configurable — these numbers are assigned to an account for specific use cases and cannot be repurposed or edited by users. A dedicated toll-free text messaging number is a common example — once in place, it is maintained by Connect Rocket and cannot be reconfigured as a different line type. Non-configurable numbers are clearly labelled on the Phone Lines page with no edit option available.
