Understanding phone line types
Once purchased, a phone number needs to be assigned a line type before it can be configured. Your use case will determine which of the five available line types best suits your needs.
Workflow Line
Workflow Lines execute one or more communication flows when activated by telephone keypad, text message, Dashboard, or schedule. Use a Workflow Line when you need to trigger different responses depending on who is calling or what the situation requires.
See Workflow Line Configuration.
Message Line
Message Lines receive inbound calls and activate a single communication flow when a voicemail or text message is collected. Use a Message Line for after-hours lines, callback request lines, or any situation where an inbound message should trigger an automatic response.
See Message Line Configuration.
Direct Connect Line
Direct Connect Lines route inbound calls to the first available contact across one or more groups simultaneously. If no contact answers within the defined time limit, the caller is prompted to leave a voicemail for escalation.
See Direct Connect Line Configuration.
Cascade Connect Line
Cascade Connect Lines route inbound calls to contacts in a defined order, calling each one sequentially until a connection is made. If no contact answers, the caller is prompted to leave a voicemail for escalation.
See Cascade Connect Line Configuration.
Interactive Voice Line
Interactive Voice Response Lines route inbound calls to landlines, mobiles, satellite phones, or other Connect Rocket phone lines based on a keypad selection made by the caller.
See Interactive Voice Response Line Configuration.
